'Divine the Darkness' Gallery Hours + Slow Art Day

  • Ashara Ekundayo Gallery 480 23rd Street Oakland, CA, 94612 United States (map)

Visit ‘Divine the Darkness’ during first Saturday gallery hours from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.

Ashara Ekundayo Gallery is a participating venue in Slow Art Day 2019! Slow Art Day is “a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.” We celebrate and display slow art every day, and we are excited to be welcoming participants to AEG!

‘Divine the Darkness’ is on view from March 24 to April 14.

‘Divine the Darkness’ is Episode 13 of House/Full of BlackWomen’s Black Women Dreaming, a site-specific ritual performance project that addresses issues of displacement, well being, and sex trafficking of black women and girls in Oakland. Set in various public sites throughout Oakland over a two-year period, this community-engaged project is performed as series of “Episodes” driven by the core question, “How can we, as black women and girls find space to breathe, and be well within a stable home?”
