you're cordially invited to the next church of black feminist thought gathering on Sunday, 12/16/2018 from 11am-2pm at Ashara Ekundayo Gallery. We are excited to be closing out the year with none other than The Lorde, Audre :)

It was wonderful to engage folks remotely for our study of Patricia Hill Collins! We were able to grapple with the smoky reality of our present while affirming the timeless value of upholding the lives and work of everyday black women.

*here's what we're envisioning the 3 hours will look like:

First 30 mins//arriving, mingling with food, dancing

Second 30 mins//embodied meditation

Third 30 mins//invocation for this month's theorists & setting the stage

Fourth 30 mins//small group study

Fifth 30 mins//share back/discussion/freewrite

Sixth 30 mins//regrounding

<come when you can//invocation and small group study starts around 12pm>

we want to emphasize that our study group is about engaging with the work of black feminist thinkers in ways that move beyond just reading and writing. so, you are in no way required to read or print anything in advance. that said, we still want to share materials by the thinkers we'll be studying. In the folder we created [Audre Lorde Folder] there is a compilation of Zami, Sister Outsider and Undersong along with a PDF of selected poems. Below you’ll find a video of The Lorde, Audre reading poems to an intimate audience in Berlin just two months before she made her transition. (
