The Church Of Black Feminist Thought is a monthly gathering that celebrates and studies the work of Black feminist thinkers. October’s thinker is bell hooks.

*here's what we're envisioning the 3 hours will look like:

First 30 mins//arriving, mingling with food, dancing

Second 30 mins//embodied meditation

Third 30 mins//invocation for this month's theorists & setting the stage

Fourth 30 mins//small group study

Fifth 30 mins//share back/discussion/freewrite

Sixth 30 mins//regrounding

we want to emphasize that our study group is about engaging with the work of black feminist thinkers in ways that move beyond just reading and writing. so, you are in no way required to read or print anything in advance. that said, we still want to share materials by the thinkers we'll be studying.

please bring:

  • food/drinks to share

  • your own utensils and plate if possible

  • some containers for leftovers

  • a notebook/journal and writing utensils that inspire you

  • all of you
